Re: What are the cylander # layout on 3.5L?

I apologize for the WORST picture I have ever taken, but it should give you the information you need:

Your problem could as you say be an injector, or it might also be the ignition coils themselves, I think they are swappable, so you could also switch the coils to see if your cylinder misfire moves to a different one.

I realize this isnt the easiest engine to change the plugs in either, it can be made a little easier by rotating the engine forward.

Here is a link to a post concerning some info on changing the spark plugs http://bonnevilleclub.com/forum/view...549&highlight=

I think I mentioned rotating the engine in that post, but if i didnt it sure helps a lot. I dont have time to go over the process now, but i think the info is in there. I HAVE TO GO TO WORK!

Thanks for the picture of it. I never thought about switching the units that mount to see if the code changes. Ive got a fuel injector on its way now...

yeah you might try switching the coils, your misfire might change cylinders.

Is the engine running smoothly? or is it actually misfiring frequently? sometimes those misfire codes can be a fluke.

Re: What are the cylander # layout on 3.5L?

Well, ok heres the long story. I had the problem of vibration/misfire. Then it went away before the light even came on. Then I had the misfire problem a lot and light came on. Had it read as a misfire in cylindar 4. Then it went away and runs fine now. The problem seems to still be around but I dont know when it will occur again.

Re: What are the cylander # layout on 3.5L?

well you could at least reset the computer so the light will go away, and maybe youll be able to observe the conditions when it comes on again.

To reset the computer just unplug one of your battery cables for probably about 15-20 minutes should do the trick....and maybe just for kicks, you could swap the coils too, and if the light comes on again and its a different cylinder this time, that might just be a place to start.

Yea, the light went off today on its own. Until the problem comes back, I guess I am just going to wait it out!

One more thing...I have a fuel injector on order...should I hold off on putting that in until the problem comes back or go ahead and take the old one out, look at it and replace it?

Re: What are the cylander # layout on 3.5L?

im not sure how much hassle it is to put in a new injector, but I probably wouldnt mess with it unless its defintely whats causing the problem.

I think the old "if aint broke, dont fix it" logic applies here.
