Transmission question
Would a transmission of a 93 Grand Cherokee Limited 4.0L, automatic, 4x4 (four wheel drive) be a legitimate replacement for a 94 Grand Cherokee Lt 4.0L, automatic, 4x4.

Re: Transmission question
Just match the model #, there are 3 choices 42RE/44RE and 46RH. 46RH was normally used with the 5.2L engine. 44RE is prolly your tranny, but check the model # to match.

Re: Transmission question
Thanks for your reply, but are you sure its the 44RE?
I found this link http://www.jeeptech.com/trans/ Where can I find the model#? |

Re: Transmission question
If it's a 4.0 Liter, I'm pretty sure you have the 42RE, same as in my '01.

Re: Transmission question
Yes the 93 model will work with the 94. the grand cherokee 4.0 ltr which came out in 93, uses parts that were for 94 and up models. I have a 93 myself. I work at AAMCO. I had to order parts for a 94 model to get my to work again.

Re: Transmission question
Well I recieved the 42RE and there's a problem, my mechanic informed me the the 42RE was the wrong tranny. Apparently I have an A500, which is manufactured by Mitsubishi and the 42RE is manufactured by mazda, according to my mechanic.
I can send it back, but that means I'd be out $200 in shipping on a transmission that I can't even use. Has anyone here switched out a 42RE in place of an A500? |
