2000 grand caravan crossover pipe & startup noise

I recently discovered a small exhaust leak in the flex portion of the crossover pipe which connects the two exhaust manifolds. Can the flex portion be easily removed and replaced so I can avoid having to buy a new crossover pipe from the dealer. (and avoid taking out a second mortgage to pay for it)
Any other methods of repair that anyone knows of.

second problem: loud banging from the engine compartment when starting the engine. Only when cranking the engine. Car starts fine.
