First Car
I just got my first car that I will be able to drive everyday bacause my Camaro needs to be restored but anyways its a 1993 Toyota Corolla LE. I only paid $700 and I'm probably gonna keep for about a year. It has 150,000 miles on it and has power windows, locks, sunroof, a CD player. I like it but I wish it was a 5-speed. I was wondering if anybody who has a similiar Corolla what have you raced and where can I find parts to give the car a little more power. If I keep the car I was thinking about doin a motor swap from a Celica GT-S or something but im not sure if that motor will drop right in. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: First Car
i have a 91 corolla dx (1.6) no power anything but thankfully it is a stick shift. i have beaten many new cars. last week i smoked a mazda 3 and a mazda 6. i have done no mods other than i buy NGK spark plugs and i rerouted the air intake to pull in colder air thats not behind the hot ace radiator. i used to get around 10 seconds 0-60 and now its around 9.2 not bad.i run the 1/4 in about 15 seconds. but its because of the manual for sure. i raced my friend he has my exact car but in white and auto (same everythng i even stole his clock and ashtray. hahaha) i smoked him by about a car length and a half he said, we raced 0-40 mph
i was about to try one of those tornado things you put into the air intake and it swirls the air around, ya know, i hear they increase mpg and power a bit. |

Re: First Car
Well the only cars I really care to beat are non-turbo/VR6 Jettas. Everyone has them around here and they all think they are fast.

Re: First Car
I dropped a brand new from Chevy LT-1 into a '68 Z28. Boy, was that a blast. I never saw a Mustang 289 or 428 I couldn't smoke. Angle plug 2.02 intake heads, 650 Holly double pumper, Eldelbrock intake and headers. Don't remember what rear end gear it had.
I never did find out what it's top end was. I ran out of guts before it did. It would stop pulling somewhere around 9K.
