Cooling fan not working
The car heats up immediately and the cooling fan does not kick on. There is a growling noise which we suspect is the power steering pump. When it heats up I can pop the radiator cap and nothing boils over. Please help!

Re: Cooling fan not working
Well, it sounds like the growling could be the water pump, check it first.

Re: Cooling fan not working
What year and engine size? I agree with Lt.carguy, sounds like the growling could be a bad water pump. That would explain the quick overheating and no boiling over (no coolant circulation). The fans won't kick on until 220-230 degrees unless the a/c is turned on.

Re: Cooling fan not working
The car is a 1993 Lumina Euro. The engine is a 3.1. There are 2 fans. One runs with the a/c, the other shouldn't come on until it reaches 220-230? Thanks for all the help!
