Carburators

Hey guys,
Ive been checking out and edelbrock 650 cfm 4 barrel carburator. How does that one compare to other 4 barrel carbs out there. I want gas mileage overall because my el cam is a daily driver. Thanks so much.

Re: Carburators

You failed to mention what year & size engine you have, but i'm assuming it's a V8. Anyway, I'm running a 78 Corvette L82 in my 79 elky and getting around 16 city, 22 highway. I found the perfect carb for me is the holley 1850C. It's a direct bolt on and replacement for the Rochester Quadrajet which in my opinion has always been a piece of crap. The holley is a 600cfm, manual choke carb, but is easily tunable and you you can replace the manual choke with an electric for about $40. I'm running headers, Holley contender intake, ported/polished heads, th350c tranny with lockup convertor, but the most significant fuel saver is the rear end (256 gears). I'm planning on swapping the 350 for a TH-2004R which should further improve the mileage. I have the best of both worlds, performance and decent mileage. By the way, I have a friend that runs an edlebrock on his truck and he claims it's nothing but a Quadrajet knockoff.
