Locked keys in my 99.
Hello all, I'm guessing I probably won't get too much info but I thought it'd be worth asking. I drive a 99 suburban conversion, and I locked my keys in my car last night. I tried getting a clotheshanger but wasn't able to get it in the car. Does anyone have any tips on how to get into my car without calling a locksmith or getting a new key from the dealer?

The easy way to get into a 99 suburban is by using a "air jack" which pushes the top part of your door out so you can get a "long reach tool" in between the door and frame of the door. Then you can push the unlock button. I know, I work for road side assitance and own a 99 sub.

At seven years old, your Sub probably needs a new windshield. You could have one of those "mobile" guys come out and pull the old one. Then you could reach in and get the keys before the new glass goes in!
Now, will you PLEASE get a magnetic box and attach it with a door key inside to your bumper or frame for next time? I have seven cars, all with key boxes. If you have plastic or aluminum bumpers, just epoxy a small (playing-card size or smaller) piece of sheet metal to a horizontal inside surface. This will give you peace of mind!

Also get a 3/16'' brakeline,about 50 inches or longer and they make great lockout tools.You can bend them in any configuration.Do you have a spare key?If not,you can get one made at the dealer about five dollars and bring in your insurance slip.The dealer goes by the vin to get keys made.

I use a plastic wedge and a lockout tool (long bendy piece of metal) wafrederick's brake line idea is good. My tool is glow in the dark... but a brake line sure would have been cheaper
 . shove the wedge in at the top of the door, reach in with the tool and press the unlock button, or if w/o power locks, bend a hook into the end of the tool and catch it on the lock lever.
