HK, Hasegawa, Tamiya, Evolution Help/Advice!
Hey everyone,
I'm currently in Hong Kong, what good model shops are there? Secondly I went to a few shops in Mong Kok to look for some curb-side model kits. I'm specifically looking for the Mitsubishi Evolution Lancer I-IX GSR/MR models from Hasegawa but the people said that Hasegawa shut down? Otherwise What good models you guys recommend for the Lancer Evo (standard curbside, not race/rally editions, street versions!) models? Does anyone produce the I, II other than Hasegawa? How are the Fujimi Evos? I tried building a few of the Fujimi initial D models back in the day and they were total crap! Thanks! |

Re: HK, Hasegawa, Tamiya, Evolution Help/Advice!
Tamiya only has ONE evo kit which isn't a rally kit.
Hasegawa has the Lancer 1 through 6 covered and most definitely have not closed their doors. Fujimi has all the later variants from I think the 5 through 10 covered.

Re: HK, Hasegawa, Tamiya, Evolution Help/Advice!
the fujimi lancer evos from 5-9 (including different trims like MR, GSR, etc) have generic "tubs" that sorely need a lot of details, in contrast to the only curbside lanevo that tamiya made, the lanevo6 GSR. hasegawa's details are halfway between tamiya's and fujimi's (though i am basing it on my only hasegawa evo, the lanevo 4 GSR). i haven't touched the fujimi lanevo3 "kyoichi sudou" kit though, only inspected the parts.
body detail-wise...it's the same detail ranking as well. but...you can always buy another tamiya evo6 GSR, then just modify the chassis to accept a fujimi lanevo5 body, or modify it even further in terms of narrowing the front and rear track to accept a lanevo4 body (since the evo5 and 6 has a wider track compared to the 4)... the evo7, 8, 9 of fujimi...you'll definitely need to do some serious detail work there. ![]() good luck!
