To trade or not to trade

Dilemma - I am upside-down ~$3000 on my loan. I need to get a car with more space. I also want something with lower miles (Probably new).

The car I am in right now is pushing 82k. I have only had it 5 months. But I am very worried about the reliability, and eventual cost of repairs. Plus, I don't have a whole lot saved, so if a repair is needed, im screwed.

SHould I trade in the car and absorb the negative equity? Or should I just wait and see?

Re: To trade or not to trade

Just sell it privately, it's not all that hard or anything. You'll get what you owe and possibly some extra.

Re: To trade or not to trade

harrymay, what you really need to do is reduce your debt. Being upside down on a car loan is just bad practice.

If you can't get into another car without going deeper in the hole, just keep driving what you got and pay extra on the loan.

82K is nothing on a car if you maintain it.

Re: To trade or not to trade

Im just going to stick with it. My profile is ancient. This is on a 2000 Celica.

It isn't bad, I think I will just buy another beater SUV or something for when I need the space.

ROFL.

50% of all the 2000+up celica's have had major repair work done. And it is not due to racing. The celica is the crappiest toyota I have ever owned.
