To the original poster, you can go to a junkyard and pull off all the A/C and P/S parts and put them on your car. However, if you choose to just install A/C you will run into a slight problem. The A/C and P/S belts all rotate off the crank pulley and the P/S pump is what provides the tension. You can measure the distance around the crank pulley and A/C and go look for a belt that would fit. You would have to then force the belt on as much as you can, then bump the starter to get it all the way on. |

Re: no ac compressor or power steering
Just FYI-that is NOT AN EASY thing to do. Of course it's very possible-but unless you have a really good mechanical ability and a lot of practice under the hood you may want to take it to a shop. Please son't be offened!!! If you are a regular mechanic-that's great. I just know that when I replaced my old engine and had to re-adjust it with the old pullys and belts-it was hard enough. You have to be right on or you'll eat through your belt. Which is not only an obnoxious squell-but bad for the car when it finally gives
Just something to think about when considering the addition to your car. the best of luck to you!!!Quote:

Re: no ac compressor or power steering
very easy job imo. ther are places to bolt it right to. if you want a little knowledge about it buy a haynes manual from autozone
you have to know how something works(belt system) before you can properly fix it! |
