Do we have to set ignition timing after timing belt install?
Hi again everybody,
Well, I thought everything was good with my timing belt job but it barely wants to start and it idles really low. If I try and put it into gear and drive, it just dies. I could have sworn I triple checked the timing marks on the cam and crank gear before I buttoned everything up. So, does this mean that I have to set the ignition timing on the car in order for it to run right or do I have to redo the timing belt? Thanks again!! |

Re: Do we have to set ignition timing after timing belt install?
I would. I just finished this job on my Pontiac Firefly (same as a metro but a different name) and found I had to readust my timing. Not hard to do with a timing light (about 10 minutes on a running engine). However, a low idle...hmmm...
