93 transport fuse circuits
It seems the more I get things fixed the more goes wrong. I have a 93 Transport 3.8 and I now have a fuse that always blows when I turn the head lights on manually. I tried checking everything for shorts and have made it worse. Now I just start the vehicle and the fuse blows.
Does anyone have a diagram of what each fuse does? Usually a fuse controls more then one thing. The fuse that blows is the tail fuse. They use to work until I started fixing other things under the dash. |

Two more questions. Where is the Daytime Running Lamp module located? How do I check the DRL diode? Mine seems to be a little over heated at the terminal connector. This maybe because of the countless times I have replaced fuse for my Tail lights trying to solve my problem and then momentarily over heating it. Many again Thanks for the fuse diagrams. |

Re: 93 transport fuse circuits
The DRL diode is in fact made of 2 diodes in series and then has a voltage drop of about 1.2 volts - 1.6 volts. since it carries about 6 amps, its heating power is about 8 to 10 watt and this is why it is built with a heat sink. If the daytime lights work, then the diode is good . BUt IF there is a short in the headlamp circuit, then the diode can eventually burn...so if you suspect a short in the headlight circuit, I would just disconnect the diode to save it until the problem is identified and solved....you would have no DRL during that period...The DRL diode feeds the lower beam headlights only, not the tail lights.
The DRL module is under the instrument panel, left of steering column www.avigex.ca/xport/drlmodule.jpg www.avigex.ca/xport/drl.jpg

Re: 93 transport fuse circuits
I found my short. After taking apart wire connectors one by one and then replacing the fuse, it finally ended up being the "solenoid box". It controls the dampers and diaphrams for the heater a/c. It is monted under the dash below the glove compartment and attached to the outside of the heater core plenum. One of the solenoids must have been sherted out. Anyway, I replaced it from the wrecker and all is fine now.
