Re: Best way to launch

Go out to Cape Canabral and use one of NASA's 3 launch bays.

It depends on the tires. If you have cheesy street tires then rev it to like 2000 rpms and slip out the clutch. Dont pop it cause it will bog out, give it a little gas as you slip it so by the time it mates itll be around 2500 rpms. with good tires and I mean GOOD, like Yokohama AVS ES100s you can rev it to 2700 rpms and drop the clutch, instant launch.

now go practice and let us know the ressults. I love Mitsubishi so I got my money on you.

Re: Best way to launch

First off wrong section. Either try the Racing>Non-Specific or the Mitsubishi>Eclipse 2000+. But Musashi is right, it depends on tires of on your car. Just go practice your launches somewhere safe with no traffic or peds and find the highest rpm you can launch off of whithout sitting there spinning the tires. And as stated it may take some slipping of the clutch but you'll get it.

Re: Best way to launch

kinda depends on teh tranny to, you made the question pretty broad. but if you have a manual feather the clutch out, thats the fastest way, but it is also bad for the clutch.

Re: Best way to launch

Stick-Turn as much RPM as you can and dump the clutch the idea is to turn as much RPM as you can without smoking the tires, remember if your'e spinnin you aint winnin. And don't bother using the clutch to shift it will only slow you down, it may not want to but the transmission will shift without the clutch.

Auto-Launch in low and don't shift until you hit the peak of your power curve and remember to account for the time it takes to for you to react and the time it takes for the transmission to shift in deciding when to shift. There is no sense in turning 8000 when your all done at 7000.

To the thread starter... that post is a great example of what NOT to do. Just don't listen to him, and you'll launch your car like a champ.

The launch is the least of your worries...I'd spend more time trying to mod the car first. I mean, tCs are what, mid 15 cars? The 2000 GS is somewhere in the 16s. Its not gonna be pretty if your stock.

Ok Terreto, I suppose you know all about double clutching as well.

I guess you are the guy who taught Brian Earl Spillner how to drive his Eclipse. He shifted 7 times while he was practicing, than he failed to double clutch and blew his floor board. LMAO
