Air through vents

Even with the vent blowing Max the air through the vents seems resticted. Blows about the same on Max as my other cars do on low setting. The A/C, blower motor all new. What could cause the air to not blow through the vents as it should.

Re: Air through vents

1: Could be the dash switch or internal dash works. With the switches set to dash vents, Check and see if air is creeping out of the defrost vents, and check the heater vents(floor vents next to the console) for the same thing. This is one of the most common problems. Could be a vaccum leak or the wire that works the air mixture door could be bent. If that doesnt help try this:

2:With the engine off turn the key over like your going to listen to the radio. Turn the fan on high, and get out of the car and look under the hood. On the passenger side of the firewall rests the evaporator housing. Check it for air leaking out around the edges, and inspect it for cracks or holes. These get damaged by age and sometimes during motor swaps. I had the same problem and these were the culprits. Good luck, welcome to the forum, and nice car. (mines an 82' also).
