94 Sable 3.8L Head Gasket Leaking
Well, it finally happened. My son was driving back from work yesterday and heard some engine noise and started blowing steam and water from the tail pipe. I can only assume the head gasket is leaking. The Sable has 89k miles and is in very good shape. I'm not inclined to spend upwards of $1k to fix it though, it's a 4th car that my kids drive. It still runs, although I have it garaged now. I didn't see any water on the oil dip stick. I don't think any major damage was done. It started it nicely this morning. The car otherwise is in very good shape. No accidents, good body, good interior, everything works, including the A/C. What would the car be worth in this condition if I attempted to sell it? Any other ideas of what to do with it? Actually, if I get rid of it my car insurance jumps up almost $300 a year because I need to put an inexperienced driver on a car with collision. So it's actually saving me money sitting in my garage.

Re: 94 Sable 3.8L Head Gasket Leaking
current value would be about $800-$1000.
With the engine fixed the value is around $2000 add $500 if the car has leather and other luxury options.

Sold it to a dealer for $500.00. Sorry to see it go after 12 years, but I didn't want to get trapped into unknown repairs. Overall the car provided good service to me.
