Thumbs down For those of you who like the Left Lane too much...

So i've been driving for 8 hours today, made my way back from Pittsburgh. I really wan't in the mood for a long drive, but i had no choice but to come home today (i was supposed to yesterday, but felt tired after seeing a concert and partying the night before, so i let myself rest). I'm always a safe driver, checking my oil, tire pressure, etc, and on the roads, always keeping to the right to let others pass... which is where this thread comes in.

Listen, if you are in the left lane and another car is coming up behind you, please, move to the right. you're supposed to be checking your rear mirror anyways, and able to judge that "Hey, that guy is going a bit fast, let me put my right blinker on and move out of the way for him, so i can keep going the speed i want but let him go the speed he wishes." but you know what? no, nobody really does that shit anymore. I do, n i feel like i'm the only one. ok, not bad, i'll just pass on the right... not exactly safe, but the stubborn driver ahead gives me no choice, i've flashed him a couple times with my brights, and even tailed him a little close for 2 or 3 seconds to see if he'll be intimidated into moving. What could be worse? OH! theres already someone in the right lane, going the EXACT SAME FUCKING SPEED!! listen, if the speed limit is say 65, and the guy in the right is going 70 and you feel that you must pass him, and all of a sudden you are afraid to go too high over the limit, than fine, DONT PASS HIM! if you got in the left, than go for it, pass him, maintain your passing speed for some distance so as not to suddenly slow down in front of the guy you passed, but for god's sake, don't just cruise next to the guy, there are pple that want to get past! this action only causes congestion and dangerouse weaving from stupid drivers, and i'm caught in between. move the fuck out of the way, and learn some fucking courtesy on the road. ... fucking assholes

/rant.

Re: For those of you who like the Left Lane too much...

im sorry, but i have a rule. well, used to and now it's only kinda enforced. im a constant speeder at least 10-15 over. there's no reaosn you ever need to be passing me. an add on, on highway im 15-25 over so there sure as hell aint a reason.

now, that was when i had car. now, if i see a car speeding, sure, maybe. but any other truck or suv trying to pass me at my speeds, i think you can deal.

That's a pretty assholish attitude to have about the roadway. Nothin personal, but the rest of us on the highway aren't there to be subject to your own personal rulebook. True, excessive speeding is usually unnecessary and dangerous, but thats what police are for. Until you go to the academy its not your place to use speed control methods.

And vinny, i agree. Being stuck behind people driving in tandem is one of the most infuriating things that can happen on the road Whenever I'm on a 2 lane highway, I have to mentally prepare myself for the bullshit I'm sure is about to happen to me.

yeah, i forgot to make that point, too. See, i was speeding, i just wanted to get home. Its not safe, i know, but i think its a little more dangerous being stuck behind two cars and everyone behind is weaving left to right on a dime because they think that gaining 1 inch in distance than the car next to them will make their dick 1 inch bigger. If you're worried about safety, Damien, Speeders will be caught and be dealt with by police, but by being an asshole and clogging the interstate, you're just gonna cause a congestion of angry and sometimes very stupid drivers.

dude, i never said i go the speed limit. i go a perfectly fast speed and im passing people. its not my fault someone wants to break a landspeed record. besides, i stand by Dennis Leary.

lol, fuck that! Go to the academy. nonsense. and im not subject to get over when you're going 50 over. how does what you say make any sense in comparison to the problem. no, no one has to be subjected to it, but then again, i dont have to be subjected to theirs either.

EDIT: lets take vinny since he started the thread. he's yelling cause someone wont get over going 10 over the speed limit and he's going 15-20 over. so, now another guy is coming behind at 30 over. should he get over? if if he is passing every car in the right lane? seriously, common sense. the guy can slow down or, if vinny really wants to, get over then get back over, but it's not always that easy or important to.

now, when someone is going the speed limit in the right lane and in the left theyr're passing them at like 2 over, then hell no they need to get back over. if passing them is so important then they should do it already.

We're not talking about laws here, we're talking about road courtesy and general common sense

If vinny has the space to do it and assuming the guy is traveling below Mach 5 and he can see him gaining in the rearview, yes... move over. Then move back after the guy flies past. Safer for both parties.

...which was my main argument...

listen, i'm not trying to beat the landspeed record or something. i'm not enfatuated with speed when it comes to driving on the damn interstate. I drive a 4-beater Civic thats 13 years old and has about 200k miles on it. But, like i said, i was tired, and i wanted to get home. I was in no mood for an 8 hour drive, so i was speeding, and got home in just 6. If i got caught and ticketed, it would be fiar punishment. But there's no need for other drivers to actively regulate traffic speeds on the road.

+1

even if you didn't see me, i always use my brights to flash the person once or twice so they get the idea. the fact that they don't budge is worse. And its not even about speeding, Damien. The person on the left could be going 20 below the limit! wtf, u know?

Vinny is absolutely right. I always follow this rule when i'm on the interstate, there are signs telling you to do it for fucks sake (in colorado anyway) plus it is common sense. I doubt the number of idiot drivers are gonna decrease in our lifetime anyway so us "courteous drivers" will have to deal.

I hear you 105% I drive from Pittsburgh to Wheeling at least once a week. It's not THAT far but it sucks going 65 the whole way because 2 idiots created a rolling roadblock, backing up traffic for a mile.
