Cool 2002 Blazer ~ rear window problem

Hi all - We are going on a trip next weekend, and the rear window will not open. Whether you push the button on the tail gate, or on the remote, you can hear the motor - weakly trying to work. The rear wiper works fine.

We replaced the relay for $20 - with no luck.

Am I missing something? I would think the wiring is ok, since it's "trying" to work...

Help!

Question Re: 2002 Blazer ~ rear window problem

Jammed??? I hadn't thought of that, but I don't think it is.

Perhaps a little background will help. I've had the blazer for a year, and have been relatively pleased so far. My 15 yo son left the key on (heaven forbid the radio is silent for a few minutes) and it needed a jump from a neighbor to get going again. The next day - the hatch wouldn't open. I don't know if it's related or just coincidence. I can't say for sure if it opened after the jump, or if it was open during that time, then closed, and wouldn't open again?

Re: 2002 Blazer ~ rear window problem

Thank you for the welcome and the info Dino! That sounds extremely familiar to my situation... I am going to try that out today... I will post there if it works out for me.

Ya just gotta love these forums - I will continue to peruse here, whenever I have a problem.. Being a 'back yard mechanic' has saved me tons of money over the years.. but that was in the days before fuel injection and 'brains'...

They make it a little more challenging now.. Thanks again!

A plastic part on the latch that holds the motor arm is broken. Just had the same trouble on our 01. You can get it open thru a slot cut in inside panel under the carpet, access it with a small screwdriver.
