Unhappy Why do my subs keep blowing?

OK, i installed this system at the end of april:

RF2002 200w rms into 4ohm
RF punch s1 150w rms

Everything was fine until about 2 weeks ago, the punch sub blew. I figured it was because I was putting 200w into a 150w sub, understandable that it would blow.

I decided to play it more conservatively and installed this:
JL 10w3v2d2 (wired for 4 ohm of course) rated at 300w RMS

Thought everything was cool but 6 days later while driving to work the sub stops making noise. Checked the voice coils with a multimeter and sure enough one of them isn't registering.

Nothings changed in reference to the system other than of course it's a lot hotter now. Any ideas why my system is blowing subs all of a sudden? It's starting to get expensive replacing them for a week's worth of play

Thanks

Re: Why do my subs keep blowing?

200wrms going to a 150wrms sub won't blow it.. I have 300rms going to 150rms MTX's.

Re: Why do my subs keep blowing?

Set your gains with a DMM or scope and I'll bet your problems go away.

Re: Why do my subs keep blowing?

Did some testing with a multimeter and some test tones. Looks like my gain was set right at the clipping point and plus the music i was playing at the time when it blew was a little hotter than what I normally listen too.
