New owner- 92 Prelude SI H23a3- need help

Hello everyone:

I am a new member here at Automotive Forum's. I am 17 years old and I got my first sports car. First of all, I dont know much about cars and any help would be greatly appreciated! I bought the car 2-3 weeks ago for $1,500. The owner was selling it for $2,000 but we negotiated. The car was hit from the left side. The front left fender needs to replaced and I already have replaced the left side mirror which was broken off. It's a 92 Prelude SI, 5-speed. The original owner said that the original engine died out so he dropped in a another rebuilt engine. When I look on the engine, to the side I see a tag which says H23a3. I was searching online and one of the sites mentioned that it is a Accord Engine. Is this true? Or is it a prelude engine? I am thinking about getting a CarFax report on my car soon! I will be taking pictures soon and will be posting them online. Also when I got my oil changed at PepBoys, the mechanic said that my seal is leaking from the tranny. I will be getting that fixed tomorrow. Another mechanic quoted me $275, but a friend said that's too much, so I am going to try several different shops.

Could you guys please tell me what kind of engine this is and how many HP does it have stock? I believe this is from the Europe Market.

Re: New owner- 92 Prelude SI H23a3- need help

H series have NEVER come from the factory in any US accord. This was only in europe, and i think japan. The h23 is a prelude engine. Im currently putting one in an accord, but this was never factory in a US accord. I think i seen somehwere that it was in australia also.

considering its an h23 id assume power output at about 160hp, and 155 ft lbs of torque. Just so you know this is at the flywheel not the cars wheels so more like 140 and the wheels.

Don't ever look at cars as just imports or domestics. Just because a car is made in a certain country doesn't mean that it is anything like another car from that country. An example of this is Mitsubishi reliability, just because they are Japanese doesn't mean that they are as reliable as a Honda or Toyota.

Thank you pimprolla112! I really appreciated your response. I will be taking pictures soon. I dont know if anyone cares to see them. And also for replacing the fenders I am still deciding between the F-1 or the Z-3 fenders. vbmenu_register("postmenu_4170791", true);
Any suggestions and help is always appreciated! Thank you!
