Making your models look in motion
This is your chance to add some realism to your model cars, which is making them look like they are moving. This is a common technique used in advertising so why not try it with scaled versions of the cars. Here's an ex.:
I came up with this idea last night and tried it out today. I was surprised at how well the first few pic.s turned out. Here are the steps I took to make my pic.s: 1. Secure a piece of solid material (plastic, wood) to the holes on the bottom of the car by using the screws that attached it to the box. I used transparent plastic in my set-up. ![]() 2. Make a rolling platform to support the camera in place, and then attach it to the piece running from under the car. I used some old Lego pieces, and they worked just fine. ![]() 3. Find a relatively smooth surface for the car and platform to roll on. I first experimented on the floor. ![]() 4. Set your camera in place and adjust it so that the whole car fits in the pic. A good idea is to put it on a timer so you have time between clicking the button and pushing the car. Don't forget to set shutter speed to get the blurry effect. I used 0"4 seconds for my pic.s but you can experiment with others. 5. Now just take the picture of the car while it's moving, It's that simple! Tips: - To get the best results, the camera has to be moving along the car, smooth line at exactly the same speed. If it is not, then you will get blurry pics. eg: ![]() - Try adding a decorative background if taking the pic.s inside, they add to the realism. eg: -Taking the pic outside is harder as the car is so small compared to the surrounding, so the background doesn't look blurry. eg: This is relatively easy to do, so try it yourself and post the results! Here are some more of mine,... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Now let's see what you can come up with... |

Interesting idea! I like the pic you made with Maclaren SLR. Very nice!

Re: Making your models look in motion
nice idea! how did you take the 3/4 pics? did you have an extended platform or just set the camera down and roll the car around?

Re: Making your models look in motion
It's a great idea ( I'll give it a try) but maybe from the other side so you can't see the platform.

Re: Making your models look in motion
you could also attach the other end to another car. so it would be easier to roll than a platform. it's just then you wouldn't have a place for the camera.

Re: Making your models look in motion
it would work best with a jada car or truck on the other end because jada's can't turn. therefore, you'd get a nice easy to take picture.

How about taking picture on the white background without moving, so the car won't be blured. Then in PS or Gimp add real background with motion blur.
