Hi, I am a new member and about to turn 16. I am falling in love with these Roadmasters! I was wondering if i could get some pointers on buying a used Roadmaster? Thanks all!

Buying a used Roadmaster should be treated like buying any used car. You want to thoroughly look over the car and check it's overall condition, take it for a road test, check any service records or reciepts (even running a Carfax is a good idea,) and also have a trusted mechanic look at the car. These cars don't seem to have any "major" problems with them. Some problems that are inherent to these vehicles include the power windows. GM used a poorly designed clip to guide the window in it's channel. Over time, these clips break causing the window to come off the track and be inoperable. A redesigned clip is available from the dealer, and installing it yourself really isn't a big deal. Another problem associated with these cars is a clogged or leaking heater core. A good preventative maintenance program which includes cooling system flush and fills can alleviate this problem. Other issues may include suspension problems, problems with the ignition system,( some with the Optispark 94 and up,) and certain body trim and moulding problems. Overall though these cars are definitely worth the money, ( especially the 94 and up LT1's )They don't really have a lot of problems, ( unlike many of the other cars I've owned.) They are a big safe car, some of the best RWD to come out of GM in the last 20 years. Too bad they were discontinued. For more info on these cars just Google "Buick Roadmaster" and look at some of the results. There are sites on the internet that gauge owners opinions on these cars and nearly 9 out of 10 owners echo some of the things I've previously stated. It is a very well liked car among it's owners. I did some research into these vehicles before I bought mine and most if not all the comments were very positive. Another thing you could do is to search through this forum and look at the posts to get an idea of what issues these cars have, and some of the fixes to correct the problem.Good luck!
