sticking key in 97 Blazer
This problem started a few days ago...
When I park & turn the engine off, about every 5th time, I can't get the key out. The cylinder won't rotate all the way back to release the key. After a few tries, it eventually comes out. I know there's a few possible causes: Ignition switch?-I put a new one in about 18 months ago d/t a separate problem. Not to say it couldn't be that though... or... I know there's a linkage to the shifter that only allows the key to come out when the vehicle's in park-someone else mentioned this in a related thread, but I couldn't find anymore info. Anyone tell me how to check or adjust the linkage? Any other ideas? Thanks for reading, -Mike

Re: sticking key in 97 Blazer
Mike, the next time that the key doesn't come out try pushing the shifter up and towards the front. Your truck is 9 years old now and the shift linkage might be a little sloppy.
If this helps you can buy a new shift linkage bushing set. For my rig it's a dealer item only. It isn't unsafe until it starts popping out of park, and if it ever on't start in Park try N |
