03 Montana Keyfob problem rear hatch

I used the instructions to program my 03 Montana keyfob. It worked, but only to lock and unlock. I can't get the horn and rear hatch release buttons to work. On the back of my instructions (I bought off e-bay) it shows the rear panel and some wires but doesn't say what I am to do with them. I have read many threads that talked about this on other cars and not sure if this is indeed my problem. If I need to connect a ground wire to something please tell me how to do this step by step. I am very automotive enept. Thank you for you help.

First - Welcome to the Forum!

I believe that the LOCK & UNLOCK are the only functions you will get to work with your van.

The reason is that the key fob can be used in several model GM cars & vans, and not all the buttons will work on all cars. If you take a good look at the key fob, you will probably notice that the PICTURE on the button that you say should open the rear hatch actually looks like a TRUNK on a car. That button probably will NOT work. The hatch has to be opened by hand.

The HORN button MAY work, but only if you have the Content Theft Deterrent option in the van. If you heard 4 chimes when you entered Programming mode (to program the key fob), then you should have that option. But all that button would do is cause the alarm to sound and the lights to flash. If you heard less than 4 chimes (probably 3), then that button will not do anything.

Hope this helps.

Take Care,

Thanks for the quick response. At least I won't lose sleep over whether or not I did something wrong in programming it. I appreciate your help.
