Whats the best way to clean carbon buildup?

My car is starting to develop what I think is lifter tick and I figured it was because of carbon buildup on the valves? Is there any way to clean this?

Re: Whats the best way to clean carbon buildup?

Maybe spray a little bit of carb cleaner in there? I'm not sure if its really safe to spray it right into the cylinders to do this but that would be the best thing to remove it...

Pull out the spark plugs, spray it in there, put em back in and fire it up... But I donno if it'll screw anything else up... Maybe you shouldn't try it...

Re: Whats the best way to clean carbon buildup?

Lifter tick has nothing to do with carbon on the valves, but shitty lifters. I doubt the seafoam or MCCC will have any effect on the lifter tick, but it's a good idea to keep the motor clean anyway. I always take the time to clean the pistons and CC thoroughly whenever I have the head off.

Re: Whats the best way to clean carbon buildup?

Oh. I dont know if my lifters are ticking anyway. Seems like the noise keeps getting louder. My injectors need a good cleaning also and I know the CC does too. I thought lifter tick could develp from carbon buildup, but what do I know? I figured all that noise was coming from a combination of lifter and injector tick. Things sounds like a freakin diesal or something. I know when I go to the gas station people have got to be thinkin..."WTF!"
