Brakes On a 2001 Impala

I am changing the front brakes on my 2001 impala and I have removed the calipers and now I am not sure how to get the rotors off? I have done this on my 2002 Sunfire and the rotors came off easy, but these rotors are on good. Anyhelpwould be appreciated.

Thanks
Steve

Welcome to AF. Must be stuck on the hub, get some rust penetrant around the hub to rotor mounting area, give it a few minutes then use a hammer to loosen them from the hub, be careful here if you plan on reusing the rotors.

If you strike the rotor with a hammer , use a block of wood inbetween the hammer and rotor. Sometimes there are sort of like lock washers on the studs to hold the rotors in place durring assembly. Will the rotors move at all or are they stead fast to the hub. Or are they loose and you can not get them off ?

Re: Brakes On a 2001 Impala

Well, I sprayed around the hub and left it, and had a friend help who knows this stuff, and it was just rusted around the hub real good. Nothing brute force and a big hammer couldn't fix :-)

New rotors and pads installed, all is good!

Thanks, and great forum!

Steve
