First time at the track in a while.....

This is the first time I hit the track since I first got my car.....and well lets just say I was kinda dissapointed in what I saw....I am going keep this as short as possible....Ill start with the races just the ones that are worth posting....

1. 180zx (RHD) sr20 @ 15psi vs me (stock)
13.689 @ 95.289mph 2.183 60ft 14.330 @ 99.881mph 2.348 60ft

2. wrx w/STI swap @ ???psi vs me (stock)
13.764 @ 98.322mph 1.931 60ft 14.588 @ 97.527mph 2.332 60ft

3. eg hatch w/built GSR swap vs me (stock)
14.158 @ 98.942mph 2.296 60ft 14.158 @ 99.978mph 2.281 60ft

4. gto 6.0 w/intake vs me (stock)
14.616 @ 99.596mph 2.355 60ft 14.186 @ 99.736mph 2.292 60ft

5. r32 golf w/intake,exhaust,chip vs me (stock)
15.340 @ 89.940mph 2.391 60ft 14.026 @ 101.467mph 2.288 60ft

6. sti (stock) vs me (stock)
14.961 @ 94.922mph 2.266 60ft 14.205 @ 101.039mph 2.303 60ft

I raced 10 more times but nothing worth posting.....the races took place at sacramento raceway on a wednesday night fun drags.....all the cars I race were on street tires and it was around 100+ degree weather.....the dissapionting part was seeing all these cars that are rated to be alot faster in the mags...but were hitting weak times.....cars that I thought were going to run mid to high 13s were hitting mid to low 14s.....like the sti not all of them but probably 3 out of six....the evos.....pretty much most of them were in the high to mid 14s....and the 3 gtos that were out there could even break 13s....I was trying to hit my stock best which is 13.8 @ 102mph 2.2 60ft but the best I could do is 14.009 @ 101.565mph 2.344 60ft.....I dont know if Im leaking again or the 100+ degree weather.....theres pretty much a story behind every race so feel free to ask...

Well the weather definantly didn't help you, but wow, some of those times are ridiculous.

Re: First time at the track in a while.....

Gotta wonder if hte track was prepped at all either. I mean that STi driver pulled a 2.2 60', and hte wrx had a 1.9, either they suck at launching or there were issues with the prep.

Edit: Judging by the fact you were pulling 2.2-3s, I'd say the driver sucking at launching was definantly a factor.

Re: First time at the track in a while.....

something I witness first hand is that the evo and sti drivers 80% of the time were either bogging off line or they just didnt want to launch it....

Re: First time at the track in a while.....

i'd say the weather isn't helping, but its funny casue the fastest guy there was a guy in a SR20 240sx. hahah his mph isn't good but thats casue he took off really good off the line. but yeah, those times for the 6.0 GTO is horrible. didn't know they could even be that slow even if you tried. esp the mph. and that R32 with all those mods are even slower then a stock 1.8T when it was rated at 150hp.

Re: First time at the track in a while.....

yeah the heat had to of hurt, but still,, those goat times sound pretty pathetic. I thought even the 04 GTO's could run 13's all day long and never thought i'd hear of a 6.0 runnin a 14.6. sounds like my old grand am against that guy would be a good race

Most tracks are open untill at least 12:00 or so, but it doesnt help much when the temp only drops about 4 degrees after dark. Also, autos are for the most part, better on the 1/4 strip unless the driver is near pro. I think all that rice has messed up your head...

As for your times 209, they werent bad considering bad weather and what was most likely a pooly prepped track. It sounds to me like the exact summer conditions at Firebird raceway. If the temp would have been in the 60-70 degree range, you would have been hitting 13.8's or so, and that's not bad for a stock SRT-4.

what can i say bro it happens! some nights your just off.
Hey man at least you get your sartie out there an give it a go and not sit around benchracing like some of the local guys round here, props to you for that.

if it makes you feel anybetter your times are faster then mine.
Ive only been to the track once so far in the Goat and it was terrible.
Gotian and my friend Jorge with an STI wanted to ride easy cause of cops and thier friggin heat soak issues. so we drive 100 miles for an hour and a half to the nearest track, we get there and 10 minutes later we are racing down the strip, we had no time to cool, no time to set tire preasure, nothing!
I ran a 15.1 and a 14.9 and then the track clossed.
I found out my air temp sensor is right over the radiator hose so the car thinks its 200 degrees out and holds back. If we had driven at like 100mph like I wanted we could of had a half hour to cool off and maybee I would of hit a mid to high 13!
goddam V-dubs and scoobies!
oh the STI and the V-dub didnt do so hot either....

those times that you are running are very similar to the ones that are over here in northern cali sahara desert heat.....I talked to the all three gto owners out there and they said to me they have been to the track many times and they couldnt pull the mid 13 that the car was rated at....they said that getting off line was the hardest part....they were either bogging or spinning the tires.....so dont feel bad about your times...I mean one guy with the goat couldnt even dail a time in cause it was his first time at the track and his runs were so far apart......

sacramento raceway is open till 10pm on wed....by 10pm the weather was still about 97 degrees....the track was semi prepped....I mean it could have been better but oh well the usually prep it better before big events instead of test and tune....and yeah my stock beat to date is still 13.8 but I cant hit it anymore....I guess I lost my skill....but im not going to stop until I hit it again.....I know my car wants to do it again...I mean look at my trap speed...but I just cant get it there.....
