98 lacking power

hey, i have a 1998 bonneville that has been the greatest car so far, no problems just regular maint. but recently i've noticed a lack of power, i bought it with 105,000 miles on it and now it has 135,000, it used to have great throttle response now when i kick it down it gradually accellerates, it just wont jump off the line like it did, i've been keeping really good care of it, i had the recalled fuel pressure regulator replaced and it had new life for a while but now it feels like its going out again or is it something else?

Welcome to AF!

I would check the fuel pressure to see if it is too low. On the 3800 you should have between 45 and 55 pounds of pressure. If not the regulator or the fuel pump may be going bad. Also, when did you change the fuel filter last. This can cause similar problems.

I changed the fuel filter less than a year ago, i'll change it to be sure. I will also get the fuel pressure checked and get back to you, thanks. I can see myself loving this website

Re: 98 lacking power

ok so i put up with this problem long enough, i finnally got it checked out and it was not the pressure regulator or the filter, but of course it has to be the fuel pump itself. some bearings went out in it i guess. good thing i didn't find out the hard way.
