A/C issue

Hi all! I bought a 91 prelude Si 4WS in December, previous owner said the A/C works but big suprise, it doesn't. Anyway.

I had the R-12 changed over R-134a and the shop said it doesn't appear to have any leaks but the compressor still wouldn't kick in. He tracked down a bad relay under the battery. I changed the relay, and the A/C compressor still wouldn't come on. Next I changed the A/C controller unit behind the glove box. Then A/C compressor came on for a few minutes and quit before the air even got cold, now it won't kick on again and I am also getting a red light along with the green one on the dash A/C switch. I am out of ideas. Can someone please help?

Thanks,

Tyrell

Hi there, red light (check compressor fuse under the dash, it could be using the same fuse for the back window defroster my 92 lude does). Also check if the condenser fan is coming on when u turn on the a/c. or for any damage/malfunction of the fan condenser. Let me know if one of those problems is ur issue.

Re: A/C issue

The fuse is good. There is no damage to the condensor. I resoldered the connections in the A/C Control Unit and will put that back in tomorrow. If that doesn't work I will replace the crank pulley, it could be slipping on the piece behind and giving the error light.

Thanks for the reply,

Tyrell

Re: A/C issue

I ordered the crank pulley and it will be in Friday. Hopefully that will fix my problem, it better for the cost .

I also have another question about a different subject. I just replaced the oil pan gasket because it was leaking, and while checking things out I found another oil leak but I don't know what part oil is leaking from. It is connected to the camshaft opposite the distributor, above the water pump. Does anyone know what that thing is?

Thanks,

Tyrell
