Body replacement?
Heres a tough one. Have a 92 that bought for parts or fix up. Only thing wrong with it is the frame by the A frame control arm is completely rusted out on one side and almost on the other. Now I'm pretty good with my wire welder but I could not find enough good metal to weld to and trying to get the wheel on that side to run straight. Put a chain and load binder on trying to pull it in line. Got it better but not good enough. Anyway. Went to a local salvage yard. They had 8 geos there. Went looking for a body that I could just swap with mine. Not a one was usable. All had either been rearended or sideswiped. One was rolled. The amazing thing was all of them the frames were perfect up front. No rust on any of them. Looked factory fresh. Bout cried all these cars and non usable. Is it possible to cut body parts off and make it work? I know the front fenders are bolted on. How about the rear half of these cars? My car the body is in real good shape. Engine and tranny are good. The person that I bought it from had put alot of new parts on. I'll keep looking for a good frame that the body isn't totally smashed.

Ask yourself the question that I ask myself in these kinda situations. How many hours will it take to arrange all these parts together to make one working vehicle? Then think about how much you make at your job in the same number of hours and if the answer is more than a used metro without the body problems, you have a simple answer.
I'm all into salvage, but sometimes it just isn't worth the effort. You may learn a lot though, including all kinds of new curse words... Jai

It wouldn't be too bad to just cut out the apron piece and weld it onto your old car. If you're good with a cutter and a welder, shouldn't take you more than a couple hours. I'd suggest making a few "template" pieces, so you cut out the exact right amount from each car. It would be a good way to get her back on the road, and have a clean control arm mount. I'd inspect the other side while you're at it, to make sure it's not toasted.
