2000 Sportage Engine Squeals, Help

My engine started squealing a month or so ago. Took it to the dealer and they said they could not find the problem. Now it squeals constantly, when its idleing or when I am driving it. Has anyone else had this problem?

I have had the A/C fan belt make that noise before. You may try to tighten it and see if the noise goes away.

Well...just loosen completely the a/c belt...or the alternator also for that matter..the engine can run without them for a while. you will see if the squeeling continues. There is a curse on these belts as several report they cannot stop them from squeeling, either tight or extra tight. SOme even say the solution is to barely tighten them.....BUT...there have been several reports of squeeling caused by the timing belt idler or/and tensioner bearings, and this or course is somewhat harder to figure out unless you know. If your car nears 70,000 miles anyway, it is time to change the timing belt....
