Re: replaced fuel pump....now what?

Are you sure it is a fuel system issue? Put a fuel pressure gauge on the port on the fuel rail and measure your fuel pressure. If you get a buzzing noice from the fuel tank but little or no fuel line pressure, you may have a bad pressure regulator. Your fuel filter should be under the car just downstream of the fuel tank, a metal cylinder with hoses going in and out. You should always change the filter with the pump. Investigate further and let us know what you find.

ok...i replaced the filter but it still wont start. when i spray starter fluid in it it will fire over and then die again. so you think it is a pressure isssue? I son't have a clue of how to check for that, but, when i turn the key you can hear the pump for a brief second kick in. some told me that the pump may be bad?

Re: replaced fuel pump....now what?

The code 12 on your check engine light means you disconnected the battery within the last 50 key starts. Your fuel pump should buzz momentarily then stop when you turn the key. The fuel pump stops buzzing when the pressure in the fuel rail reaches the maximum pressure setting of the pressure regulator. If it ran continuously, that would mean that your pressure regulator was not holding and allowing the fuel to continuously circulate back to the tank without allowing enough pressure build up to fire the injectors correctly. You may need to pull the injectors to see if they are firing correctly. I also advise that you get a repair manual and fuel pressure testing gauges, all readily available at your local auto parts store.
