95 engine into 96 metro----crank sensor??

I bought this car for my car dealership and when I tried to get it inspected it would not pass because of the crank sensor. Whoever had it before me had put an engine from a 95. (thats what the mechanic told me)
Anyway he said that a 95 did not have a crank sensor. Therefore the it throws a crank sensor code.

My first question is does this sound correct?

And second, if it is correct, what can I do about it?

I put a 1.3 L engine from a '95 into a '96, and both had crank angle sensors. If I remember right, the connector wasn't the same so I had to switch sensors. I'm not sure which engine you're taking about and it could be different with the 1.0 L 3 cylinder engine.

Most of the 95's were OBD-I. It was changed to OBD-II mid-year. Put a 96' oil pump and drill a hole in the oil pan. It'll work like a charm
