Drop in rpm

I have Chrysler LeBaron 4-door 1994, 3L V6 MPI, 4sAT. Over the last couple of months, once in a while when idling, the engine rpm drops to zero and then quickly returns back to about 600 rpm and continues to run. Recently, however, on two occasions when such a drop in rpm occured engine stopped running. I restarted and continued. Something is happening or about going to happen. How can I prevent it or fix it? Thanks for the advice.

Re: Drop in rpm

When was the last time your fuel filter was changed? Definitely sounds like a fuel supply problem.

Re: Drop in rpm

The filter was replaced about a year ago. But I will do it again. Thanks.

Re: Drop in rpm

Fuel filter should be changed every 6 months or so...but even a year shouldn't cause that unless you have a lot of sediment in the gas tank...and only if you let the tank get low before filling up again.

Re: Drop in rpm

hello I had that same problem once at it turned out to be that one of the spark plug wires was messed up, so you can try checking that.
