Bp Gas?
I was wondering if anyone noticed a diffenrence in using BP gas instead of any other brand of gas. I noticed that I get about 100 miles more to a tank of gas using BP then other brands. Wondering if anyone has found this.

What is BP gas? Most gas comes out of the same pipe line. They just dump in a little additive to make/change it to different brands. I has watched all different brands tank trucks fill up at the same spicket. MT

Re: Bp Gas?
BP (British Petroleum) is the large oil company that owns Arco (and sponsors Marcus Gronholm, the WRC driver in my avatar!). There are not many of those stations in this area. Some places have more. If it's the same gas as they sell through Arco, it probably sucks.

Re: Bp Gas?
Well I am here in Jacksonville, NC. and using BP gas is working for all of us that are trying it. It costs about 10 cents more but it is definetly worth it.

Re: Bp Gas?
If it's 10 cents more, then it must be their better brand. Arco is the bargain stuff around here.

Pure old moonshine gives them a boost to. That BG sounds to good to be a good idea. It would be a good idea to find out what it has in it. Some of the crap they put in there gives good mileage first tank or 2 and then things may start blowing up or go the other way. Mt

Re: Bp Gas?
if it has that much benefit something has got to be wrong with it, or every company would be doing the same thing.

Re: Bp Gas?
I've tried BP gas around Raleigh NC and didn't notice a difference myself, but then again it was the same price as the station across the street. To me, good gas is good gas is good gas lol.
On another note, does anyone know why my truck tends to do more pinging during the change of seasons from winter to summer. Is it because of the change in the gas formulas? I find that I have to fill up with 89 octane during this period or I get more pinging. It has never affected the mileage or power, but it just sounds better sp I feel better. Once summer is in full force, no more pinging on the cheap stuff. |

You should not get much pinging from just performance off a little. You might go over your truck and make sure the timing is set correct and the spark knock system is working right. MT

Re: Bp Gas?
A euro mag, EVO, did hp and mileage tests with different gases. Of course they used a BMW M5 and a Golf GTI. They got the best results with shell and BP. Euro cars tend to run better on shell and bp in my opinion, and everything I've read.

Re: Bp Gas?
I notice at certain gas station i seem to get better MPG , like newer gas stations it seems to last alittle longer.I think that at older gas station they might have a little water in their tank or something.
