What might be causing this?

Hi everyone,

I drive a 1996 Jeep Cherokee Sport model 2 door with the part time 4 wheel 4.0 engine.

Anyway not too long ago I had to get a new windshield. It was so pitted from the years I just could not see through it anymore.

Anyway just a little while ago no matter what the climate setting the inside windshield gets kind of foggy/hazy.

I was actually at a drive through tonight and could kind of see the fog/haze kind of dance across the windshield.
I am wondering if it could be a bad seal from the replacement windshield or dare I fear a possible small heater core vapor leak or anything like that?

Otherwise I love the jeep 1996 with over 230,000 miles, granted it needs a tune up and a new cat. converter but otherwise still runs as strong as the day I got her new in 1996!

Thanks,

Joe

Re: What might be causing this?

I'd give the inside of the windshield a thorough cleaning with a good glass cleaner first, since dirt on the inside can cause all kinds of misting/fogging issues.

If it's still bad after that, then give the build up a sniff....if it's coolant you'll be able to tell.

I would bet money it's a heater core leak. It might be minor so there may not be any visable output from the drain under the dasboard. You will probably have to open up the heater core housing and do a visual inspection. Good Luck!
