Hatch glass

The release mechanism on my 2001 Rodeo is malfunctioning, and I can't figure out a way to release the glass to remove the parts and repair it. I can see the release bar but don't understand what I need to move to release the glass.

Are you sure it's not a problem with the range sensor. IIRC, auto tranny Rodeos have to have the tranny in P or N in order to release the rear hatch. Try jiggling the shifter while you press the hatch release.
