Burning rear inner thread way faster than outter!!!
I own a 2000 Ls v8, dropped an inch (eibach pro kit) with 20's (205/35/r20)
I recently was driving peacefully when suddenly i heard a look metallic Crack. Turns out my right rear tire had blown. Experts say that my back wheels were not alligned and i was using my inside thread a lot more than the outter. Both tires were used as much and i was forced to buy two new tires after only a month and a half of ridin dirty.hehe Now my question, I have brought my car to many allignment specialists and they all say that my solid rear axel should not be affected by the lowering of the vehicule, and no elongated camber bolts may be added due to its RWD. Another man asked me to check the stock toe and present toe to see the diff and compare it with my in initial offset. But all in all, no one really sounded like they knew what they were talking about. I have noticed that many lincoln owners roll on 20's dropped and no one seems to have my problem of using the back inner thread way more than the outter thread. Does anyone have an idea in mind? I also noticed my back right side being a little lower than my left back side? So i just ordered a new rear link kit because it was worn out, but i doubt that will fix my problem. What am i to do?? is this common to be using the inner thread? Best regards, Marco |

Your Lincoln LS does not have a solid rear axle, it has independent rear suspension, and is adjustable for toe and maybe camber.
Were the shops telling you it has a solid rear axle, or were you telling them that it was? Rear suspension: Camber LH: -1.0 degree +/- 0.75 degree RH: -1.0 degree +/- 0.75 degree Split: 0 degree +/- 0.75 degree Toe @ curb ride height LH: 0.12 degree +/- 0.25 degree RH: 0.12 degree +/- 0.25 degree Split: 0.24 degree +/- 0.25 degree Ride Height: Front: 2.4 in. +/- 0.3 in. Rear: 1 in. +/- 0.3 in. -Rod |

1- Thank you for the quick replies
2-Yes they are good quality tires, Toyo both times 3- They told me it was a solid axel, and that maybe it was due to stock suspension pieces being rusted and crooked? but that doent really ring a bell sounds like a scam to change my suspension and blow another thousand bucks on this problem... I have 18's and lowered 1.5" and i can tell you my rear camber is out. I am due for a tire rotation pretty soon. If your lowered on 20's its definately too much + camber. Eibach sells a correection kit but it does not work for the LS.
Even still i don't think tires should be worn out that damn fast even with bad camber. |
