Angry Dead pedal on cold start 2000 Silverado

Hi folks. I'm hoping someone can help me out here. I'm new to the forum, but not new to turning wrenches. My problem is starting my truck when cold (temp guage at or below 160). After starting I have serious hesitation, almost like the pedal is dead for about 30 sec. to one minute and then all is well. I have cleaned the TB, Cleaned the MAF sensor, changed the fuel filter and have checked the fuel pressure and fuel pressure regulator. All seem to be fine. I mention this being a cold start problem, but obviously this can not be a tempature related problem, because the engine does not warm up in 30 sec. I have read the threads related to the problem I'm having, but nothing has hit the nail on the head. I don't want to go out and just start swapping parts. That can get expensive fast. Just thought if anyone else has had this issue and what they have done to fix it. Any help would be appreciated. I'm at my wits end!! BTW, I have a 2000 Silverado 4X4, 5.3L, Flowmaster 40 single to dual and a FramBoost intake. I had this problem before the engine mods, but it is gradually getting worse and is now getting a little harder to start. There are no trouble codes either.

******UPDATE************

I replaced the FPR Friday evening 6/30/06, and apparently it has fixed my problem. I never would have diagnosed that as being the problem. There was no gas coming out of the diaphram and the tests that I ran would not have pointed to that. Never the less, I'm just glad that I have my truck back to normal.

Could you describe the turnover? How many miles? Original battery, plugs, etc?

Turnover is fine, just take a 3 or 4 or more cranks to fire up. It used to just fire up instantaniously. New plugs. 80,000 miles. This morning when I started it, I didn't think it would even stay running at first, but it did. I rev'd the motor a couple of times, and all was good.

Unless new, I'd test the battery - free at autozone.

Check for vacuum line leaks. This is one of the myriad of symptoms that can cause and they can be a devil to figure out.

Wait, are you saying it won't crank very well, or that once cranked, the engine feels like it's stalling?

No, It cranks fine but feels like it is stalling once started. I ordered a FPR for it last night, so I'll see how that does. I noticed when I checked the Fuel pressure, I left the guage hooked up overnight and my pressure does bleed to zero after a while. We'll see. It doesn't bleed off fast though. Also it was running at a range of 50-60 psi, which the bottom end is 2 lbs low according to what I'm reading. At $45, it's worth a shot. I will post my results. Thanks.
