Hard-starting 2004 Chevy Malibu Maxx

I have a 2004 Chevy Malibu Maxx with 40,000 miles. Occasionally it will crank and not start and sometimes it has to crank a long time before starting. It behaves like a clogged fuel filter, but I can't find any after-market fuel filters for the 3.5 L V-6. Is the filter (gulp!) built into the fuel pump in the tank? Any advice here would be much appreciated.

If you are talking about when it is hot or 3/4 hot, it is a problem GM has yet to solve on the 3.5 l.

Mine did the same thing just this morning. As far as I know, it's a bug that GM hasn't solved yet. Hopefully, they will in the near future.
