Re: used parts

A part like this can usually be found by being in the "right place at the right time." I don't know how it may be in other parts of the country, but in my area, you usually don't see many Venture/Silhouettes/Montanas in the salvage yards. And if they should get one, it usually is parted out quickly and then crushed or recycled. The part you need may not be in great demand, so it may be overlooked in the "parting out" process. Maybe you could let your local salvage yards know you need this part and leave with them your contact info. That way, if they should get one in, they can retrieve it for you. I have seen sites on the web where people post a particular part they need, and if someone has that part, they in turn would contact that person. I don't know of any particular addresses,as I came across them while searching for parts for my other vehicles. My best advice, from my own experience is to keep checking back with the salvage yards, or do online searches (especially if you find a particular site like I previously described.)A lot of times, you can get lucky if one of these yards should take possesssion of a vehicle with the part(s) you need.

Re: used parts

There is a country-wide salvage yard on eBay called LKQ. They have several regions throughout the US. That is where I got my overhead console.

You might want to send them a note (as mentioned above) or give them a call, if you can find their phone number. I had it once, but have misplaced it.

Hope this helps.

Take Care,

Re: used parts

There are also a variety of online part "search engines" where you can submit a request and multiple part yards will check their inventory and get back to you if they have the item in stock for a price.

Whenever I need a part for any of my vehicles I start with Google. I type which part I am looking for and then check the results. You could type in " cupholder for a 2002 Chevrolet Venture" or to refine the results even more you could add "factory cupholder for a 2002 Chevrolet Venture". I've also used other search engines such as ask.com, A9, dogpile,Alta Vista, or Lycos. Here is a link to get you started in your search:http://www.usedpartscentral.com/used...s-12-10-05.htm

Re: used parts

With my '97 where I broke the one that attaches to the left side of the passenger front seat, as well as the one that attaches to the right side of the middle row seat, I took a medium-sized wiffle ball (needed the holes in it) and tie-wrapped it (you may need two) to the middle area Y-shaped separator. At least you will have one good cup holder of the two available, but it just won't collpase into itself. If you need it to collapse, then take the clear plastic cup (not the threaded kind) from the lg laudry soap gallon plastic containers and wiggle/position it in the bad side to still get one good cup holder out of it. The advantage this way is that you can remove the plastic cup temporarily and put it to the side, collapse the assembly when not in use. I also went to a car parts store and bought a cup holder/CD/ change/etc holder that I additionally use between the front seats. I agree. $200 for a replacement is ridiculous. These s/b snap in assemblies that can be purchased at a reasonable cost and breakaway vs break and can be reattached easily when one's foot hits them. Good luck.
