So who's the gem who can answer this??
I got the Calmini AAL's and after much abuse I am finding that the "clamp" thingies on either end of the spring packs are getting loose or opened up with annoying regularity. I need something to replace them as the Calminis didnt offer that. I know Motorzen will be interested too.
Preferably something stronger than the original ones. First one to answer gets a shiny Canadian quarter which is my worldy wealth since I got back from Vegas. |

Chad!
The problem is that the springs are hard to drill, being there springs and all! I am sure when SLR made my 3 AAL they made and installed the retainer before heat treating the spring. You'd need something similar to it but probably have to have it welded to the spring? BUT that destroys the heat treat of the spring

Oh well, couple of rolls of Duct Tape should do it......

Maybe you could come up with a way to link the tops of the existing clamps so they hold together?
I'll have to think about that.

Unless the leaves are starting to spread apart really bad, it shouldn't be a problem. Mine (and most of the guys in MAXC) are shot to hell - all bent up, etc.

Im gonna see if I can get Motorzen's brother to weld something for us - he just put the AAL's on too and is having the same problem.

Maybe these would help.

Wouldn't U-bolts work ? They make them square, as well in varied widths.

I dunno - it needs to be some sort of setup that doesnt rub on the leaf springs all the time. That can cause grooves as well as irritating noise.
I think maybe customizing the ones already on there might be the answer. |
