2001 Durango 4.7 thermostat

Where is the thermostat located, and what does it take to replace it?

The veicle is a 2001 Durango, with a 4.7L V8. It is apparently not in typical location in the intake manual.

It's under a housing tube where your top cooling hose is attached to your engine. The other end is attached to the top of your radiator. Get a Haynes manual & it will show you. Well worth the $12 & will tell you every thing you are goint to need.

This is a good time to do a system flush & replace the cooling hoses if old & worn. Follow directions & take your time. Coolant should not be left in for more than 2 years.
