Is this normal for tranX ??

Today I changing, tranx and rear dif fluid ( red line heavy duty ), I unbolt the filler plug ( tranX ), and I saw a BIG ficking black shit ( mud ). Is those fluid support to be thin ? not thick like mud, but any way, I unbolt the drain plug, and it come off just a little fluid, I guess those fluid turn into mud, and so thick that wont drif out. Then I use the air compresure to blow from the filler plug, and all those mud coming out ( is that bad ideal, I have no other way to get them out ). I fill it will the new fluid, and keep filling until I saw red fluid coming out the drain plug. then I use the air compresure to blow all the shit out again. For the rear diff, the fluid actualy thin and look like new, but I refill with new fluid.

Re: Is this normal for tranX ??

Im not talk about manual tranny fluid, Im talking about transfer case and rear dif. transfer case fluid is turn into mud, it so dam thick that I can roll into a ball ( not really, but just imagine how thick it was ). I have to use air com and blow from the filler hole to get all the mud out to drain hole ( is that bad ? ).

Re: Is this normal for tranX ??

Ohhh, I thought you were talking about the MT fluid, my bad. I don't know if it's bad (meaning the transfer case is going to get ruined), but it's definitely not a good thing that it's that dark. It was probably a good idea for you to change it before something did actually go wrong. Sorry I couldn't help too much, I'm not big into transfer cases and what not, maybe someone else can shed a little more light on the subject.

Well, not that I know a lot about t cases, but I would imagine thats not good. I would pick up a spare just in case. Good call on shooting the shit out with a air compressor, very good idea I think.
