one bit, one didn't

I was cruisin around tonight just listenin to some music (soulive for any of you that are familiar) and a gold stang gt pulled out in front of me. it was def a 99+ and looked pretty clean, and it had temp tags on it and was stock from what I could tell. a couple times he swerved into the other lane and then came back,, I couldnt tell if he was doing it on purpose or he just failed driver's ed.. so I coasted up beside the car and there was a kid driving who looked probly 17ish. I looked over and gave it a little bit of gas and revved a little as I drove, and slowed/sped up a few times,, but he refused to do anything. I guess he didnt want to lose so soon after getting his new car

so I did a u-turn after a couple miles and headed back home. on the way I saw an acura 3.2 TL pull out behind me and as I was coastin @ ~50 in a 45 he punched it and flew by me so it was obvious he wanted a little fun. there was a light at the bottom of the hill turnin yellow just in time to stop both of us (dont you love when that happens?) and so we did. when the light turned green we both nailed it and I immediately pulled on him. at 50mph he was 7 or 8 cars back, and kept gettin smaller. I shut it down @ 90 and slowed back down to 50 fast. the guy in the TL was still gunnin it and a few secs later did a "ricer flyby" but gave me a thumbs up,, so therefore I guess you wouldn't consider it a flyby in that sense. there was another light up ahead and we talked for a sec.

HIM: "can't beat that v8 american muscle!"
ME: "thanks, your car's pretty quick too (jus tryin to be nice )"
HIM: "ahh she's alright"
ME: "(as the light turned green) aight take it easy man"

my turn was a couple streets up and he gave a friendly honk as I turned.

Re: one bit, one didn't

nice race. To be honest I probably would have passed on a kid behind the wheel of a GT with temp tags if he had been swerving....just sounds like a recipe for disaster, probably a good thing he didn't bite. Hell I wont race half my friends, despite the fact that I know I can destroy them, I just don't want them speeding behind me...I know them too well But nice kill on the TL.

Re: one bit, one didn't

Nice kill...I agree with the Acura driver, American muscle is sweet. I used to know this German chic that was here for some kind of intern thing... This girl would always talk trash about American muscle cars, calling the Corvette a cheap American sports car....I made sure that before she went back to Germany that she KNEW what an American muscle was...

Apparently you missed the thread where the roof of the new z06 blew off. It's a 10 second car for under 100k, I would call that a cheap American sports car.

Re: one bit, one didn't

didn't you know, no car on this planet can beat cars from duetchland. just listen to the VeeDuB commericals.

all in seriousness, german cars are overly engineered heavy cars. with all the crap they put in, you can get the same performance from a more focused basic car.

also modding them is a bitch. why does a turbo kit for a BMW cost 8-10K? its the same crap as a japanese kit but it cost 3X's as much.

but back to the topic, the kill was expected but the guy in the TL definitly seems very cool about it, and you seem like a nice guy who don't bad mouth your victims after you pwn them also.

Why would I? Its all personal prefrence. I prefer BMWs. Some people prefer Toyotas. Other's like GMs. Personal taste is just that, taste.

Afterall, your the one who would defend the Mustang even if it was prooven that the car would be the end of the world, would bring forth satan, and demand you give up your first born child in sacrifice.

Ummm...

HKS Full Turbo Upgrade for a 94+ Supra: $6250->$8795
"" For an FD: $3950->$6395
AA Turbo kit for an E36 M3: $8700
AA SC kit for E36 M3: $5695

The kits that are really expensive are more than just a turbo and some parts. The $20k kit from DA isn't a turbo, its a fully built motor+turbo. And you can do it all pretty cheap if you just do it yourself. Anyways, if you have the money, who cares how much it costs.

And it isn't all ass expensive. If you look around, you can find the same parts cheaper elsewhere. For example, my CAI only cost $280.

Re: one bit, one didn't

i see that some kits you listed for hte toyota supra cost 8K but your forgetting that the supra kit from HKS will get you around 600-700whp. while your bimmer kit won't get you anywhere near that much.

so once again dollar per hp is horrible when your comparing european cars to american or japanese cars. you can find turbo kits for japanese cars for $2500 and thats with a intercooler.

i never realised how expensive it was to tune a european car was until i started reading some euro tuner at work. these guys spent soo much money on wheels paint, body, interior and they only have a intake for a mod. hmmmm thats smart, you just added like 400 lbs of weight with a wide body kit, 19x10 wheels and your only gonna add a intake. hahahah most cars i see in those mags don't break 300whp or barely break it. and if they do break that hp, its becasue they made that stock. the only real exception would be the turbo porsches, those things are just beasts.

but they're also piss hard to work on. i mean to change a timing belt for an audi 1.8T A4 or S4 cost $1200. why would they do that? why would they put the engine so far to the front that you can't even change the belt yourself without taking out the front from radiator support to put the car into service mode? they're just raping you with labor to make their car super expensive and hard to work on. the only excuse is that by putting hte engine so far forward, you gain alittle bit more interior space, but the trade off is no where near worth it.

you go to an audi dealer and buy the exact same replacement part for your VW yet it cost more but its the exact same part. why is that? all in all, if your someone who likes to work on your own car, a european is not the way to go unless you like a challenge and have lots of money.

$220 for the K&N on the Cobalt. But it goes all the way from the blower, down into the fender well. Still too much money.
