DRL work but can't turn on headlights
I was towing my trailer during a heavy rain storm and my lights went out, it seems that a wire came loose on the trailer lights and shorted something out. My DRL's are working but I can't get my taillights nor my interior dash lights to come on anymore. When I open the driver door the door chime dings but the keys are out of the ign. and the headlight switch is in the off position. I checked the headlamp circuit breaker on the inside fuse panel and the large 60 amp fuse for the headlamps under the hood with no luck.....anybody seen this before?

Re: DRL work but can't turn on headlights
I've just recently had a very similar experience. Pulling my trailer, the instrument lights flickered and went out, automatic lights stopped working, fast chime when driver's door is open with no key in the ignition. I can turn the headlights on using the light switch. The front running lights didn't work at first, I pulled the DRL fuse and replaced it, now the front running lights work but still no taillights, dash lights and the fast chime when the driver's door is open.
Have you had a resolution? |

Re: DRL work but can't turn on headlights
Yeah mine turned out to be the tail light fuse under the hood in the fuse box.
Hope that helps. Quote:

Re: DRL work but can't turn on headlights
That was it! Thanks. I had quickly checked the fuses - but obviously didn't look closely enough. I made the incorrect assumption that if it was a fuse the lights would have just gone out - not flickered first and then gone out.
I'll be checking my trailer wiring harness to find out why the fuse blew (making the assumption that this is the culprit!) Thanks again. |
