Re: tranny oil

10w 40 is motor oil....if thats what youre talking about, thats fine... if you really mean tranny oil...then you should be using honda genuine oil.. after all, they designed the car ans know whats best.

Re: tranny oil

I'll second the motion for genuine Honda gear oil.

i know what you mean to say. But it isn't gear oil. Gear oil would destroy these trannies. It's motor oil labeled as "MTF".
Mobil 10w 30 works fine as well.
I run straight synchromesh myself, but I have a terrible 3rd gear.

Re: tranny oil

beleive it or not but my chilton manual says either 10w 30 or 10 w 40, but they say 10w 40 is better for hot days and prolonged highway speeds.

I run honda mtf in my tranny but since it leaks a little i add a little bit of 10w30 or 5w30, whatever clean oil i have at hand. Oh and who says we all have 5 speeds?? Have some STD 4-speed respect y0!
