Red face Which ball joints to choose?

I wanted to replace my ball joints. Upper and lowers. I have replaced them before, no doubt with cheap ones. I'm doing the front axles so I am going to do the ball joints again as long as I'm in there. It's a '97 Blazer, 128k miles. Replaced them last @ 80k. Which ones are best to use? I'm getting prices all over the map! Anything from $15 bucks at Autozone to $64 at Napa. Any advice on this issue would be appreciated. Thanks.

MOOG or GM, the rest will wear out fast and the lost labour is worth more than the extra cost involved.

You'll still want to keep them greased

Re: Which ball joints to choose?

Did the original ones wear out at 80K miles or did you replace them just to prevent problems?

Just curious...I've got a '97 too & still on the original ones at ~126k miles with no problems. I just grease 'em up good every 3k.

From what I've heard, I'd go with Moog when the time does come to replace.

Re: Which ball joints to choose?

Stay away from Advanced for ball joints, their warrenty SUCKS.They say they are lifetime warrenty ones ,NOT.My brother went through that just recently for a fullsize Chevy pick up.They would not warrenty the balljoint beacuse of the size of the tires and called it modified.Stay away from AutoZone also, really called AutoJunk and they sel the cheap ones. The high end Napa balljoints are made by moog,it should say on the box.Napa does not make their own balljoints.Carquest's balljoints are made by moog also, says on the box and have one of the best warrenties.Carquest has the cheap ones and the lifetime warranty ones. The lifetime warrenty balljoints one are the better ones.My brother had one from Carquest installed, lifetime warrenty one and it was warrentied. One was from Carquest on the other side that was replaced a second time.
