96 Park Ave-Alarm keeps going off

Just got an '96 Park Ave.....it's light blue with 104K mi....must have been owned by an old couple b/c the interior and exterior look hardly used for the most part.....haha.

I'm 36 and the car sure doesn't fit my image but it was very cheap and rides like a dream...and I only drive it sparingly since I have 2 motorcycles and commute on them (one at a time).

The flaws with the PA:
CD doesn't work
but mainly the damn factory alarm goes off almost every night unprovoked:

I referred to this thread

and cut the blue wire going in the trunk lid.......we'll see how it goes!

Re: 96 Park Ave-Alarm keeps going off

Just got done working on a 01 Cavalier with the same random alarm problem,
turned out to be a bad plunger switch in the door jamb $9. I shudder to think what the dealer would have charged (diagnostics, parts, labor, shop mtrls, etc...).

Re: 96 Park Ave-Alarm keeps going off

Since cutting the blue wire in the trunk lid on my PA, I have not noticed or heard the alarm go off since.
