serious oil leak problem!

ok l parked my car for 2 days in the garage and todya l pulled her back to wash but l saw a huge oil LAKE on the floor.. l got under the car and l saw it is coming BETWEEN TRANSMISSION and ENGINE OIL PAN (RIGHT ABOVE THE STARTER I GUESS) and l saw some antifreeze mixxed up with the oil too. also my power steering is getting real hard sometimes ( something is wrong with it it too) l dont know if it is related.. I CHECKED THE OIL, LEVEL LOOKS OK BUT THE OIL IS KINDA BLACK.. WTF?!?!?

so what is it? and how can it be fixed? and how much would that cost?

l have an oil leak from front of the engine but that is small and not a big deal.. it has been like that and not a problem..

please help, this is the only car l have!

Any chance all those fluids were there before you parked your car there? If you checked all your fluids and they are ok, then it must have been there before. Most of those fluids with the exception of maybe the coolant or oil pan plug wont leak unless the car is running.

You have to clean up were you saw the leak and then leave it standing to make sure thats the actual spot of the leak and not the fluid dripping down the engine or there from driving the car and it traveling to that area. Cause when I had a tranny fluid leak from one of my tranny cooler lines, The fluid was building up at the rear shaft area and after a few days or not driving it there was still built up fluid there but that was obviously not the spot it was leaking from. Also, The only way you would get antifreeze at the rear of the engine besides it traveling back there from the front is if your rear coolant crossover pipe was damaged or your block was cracked or your knock sensor wasn't sealed tight. All of which I highly doubt.

valve cover was a long time ago and l already fixed it.. l replaced the gasket. and it is fine now..

about coolant, l believe one of the hoses is bad, because waterpump and radiator are new. about leak, people say it might be bellhousing..

when l dont drive the car, and leave it at the garrage, it doesnt leak.. but when l drive the car a long time and park and leave it there over night or more, then l see some oil on the floor.

this car is trying to find an excuse to die, but l won't let this!

Okay, are you sure it's engine oil?

If the oil in the crankcase is black, you REALLy need to change it, it's speant, and you know what happens to an engine with old broken down oil.

So what you should do is take an afternnon this weekend, change your oil & filter and clean up the engine to help aide you in locating the leaks source.

thank you so much man.. l believe it is engine oil.. l will take the car to a local shop and change the oil and filter..

The bellhousing will not leak oil as there is none in it.

The rear main seal is on the back of the motor, which is covered by the bellhousing. I bet that is it.

I agree with Mr Luos, sounds like the oil is coming from a rear main seal, easy to change once you drop the transmission, Pull starter, drop trans & pull the torque converter (if auto), pull flywheel, remove 4 or 5 bolts, pull old one off, grease up new one & re-install everything.

rear main seal should only leak while engine is running, but you don't see it going down the road, then when you stop it drains out of the bell housing.

As for the coolant, if its not something simple like a hose i'd take a good look at your intake manifold, start there, thats usually the leaker if it leaks in the rear. If a shop tries to tell you its a head gasket have it looked at by several shops.

Check the back of the engine where it mates to the intake manifold. These engines are know for oil leaks there. But if there is really antifreeze with the oil then that probably isn't it. My guess then would be a head gasket.

l really appriciate helps.. but this is what you call easy? l will almost pull everything down!

Would you rather change the passanger side rear spark plug?

ok so its not simple ... but if you've had some practice pulling the transmission then its not all that bad once you have that out of the way

if the oil is leaking from inside the bell housing then its your rear main seal
