how much faster....

if quality headers, exhaust, and an intake were all installed ( i estimate 30-45 whp gain with all of this) how much faster would my eclipse be?? are we talking seconds or a half a second??? for the quarter mile and 0-60?

Re: how much faster....

First of all.....just to let you know, everyone here hates questions like this because there really is no answer. Also, there is no way you will get 30WHP from thos bolt ons. I hate to break it to you, but the exhaust and headers will prolly give you like 8 combined, and the intake at best will give you 10......not much noticable difference other than sound. Maybe a .20 off 1/4 mile, and not much off 0-60

Re: how much faster....

do you know how much hytech headers cost?

the best headers for our cars cost somewhere between 1200 and 2200$

and then you absolutely NEED to tune it.

And you will also not pass cali emissions with those modifications. With intake and exhaust you may be asking for trouble, but you will still pass. with headers you WILL NOT pass cali inspection unless you have a way by some miracle or act of God

At absolute BEST you can hope for a mid-14 quarter mile time and that includes

intake ~~200
exhaust -500 +
"quality" headers - 1200-2300
e-manage -- 500
quaife/kaaz lsd -- 700-1200
High stall torque converter --500
sticky tires -- 492 (minimum for all 4)
lightweight 17's -- 500-2000
Tune -- 200-350$

and EVEN then it is not very likely. you would have to practice over and over to get that. and you'd need a 60ft under 2.1 seconds.

that whole list will cost you in the range of $4800

for 4800$ plus shipping you can purchase a Tearstone turbo kit or a Ripp supercharge kit

Also keep in mind that nothing besides the tune includes labor charges if you can't/don't want to do it yourself.

Absolutely EVERYTHING related to performance has been covered in the "guide to modifying your 3g" including warranty/ does and don'ts/ the smart way to modify your car/ etc.

The 3g Eclipse is NOT a performance car nor does it hold very much cost efficient potential. It is strictly a looks car and even then it is a love it or hate it.

Also, that is the BEST time you can hope for without THAT much work, and even then some guy on club3g was complaining he COULD NOT break 15 sec. quarter with those mods. he bested a 15.0

Re: how much faster....

Not to mention you have an Auto, which are significantly slower than the 5 speeds.

Re: how much faster....

high stall torque converter solves that problem

also, the sporties are fairly strong, meaning that us 5 speed guys got the short end of the stick
